Welcome to Rambling Dog Farm

Rambling Dog Farm is a small horse and hay farm near the crossroads of Pepperbox in Sussex County, Delaware. In addition to our horses, tractors and rescue dogs, the farm is home to a variety of wildlife, including white-tailed deer, red foxes, broad-winged hawks, great blue herons, barred owls, and the occasional migrating wood duck.

In 2025 we enrolled the farm’s 10 acres of wooded wetlands in a Wetlands Reserve Easement (WRE) from the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), a branch of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The 10 acres being enrolled in the in the WRE program include a small pond.  Though modest in size, this area connects to a much larger stretch of forest near Trap Pond State Park, helping preserve a valuable piece of the local ecosystem.

As part of the WRE program, the protected acres will be restored to improve the function ing of the  wetlands, enhancing the pond the surrounding woods as a habitat for wildlife.
